Cherie is a Partner of C&M Legal and the Crown Solicitor for New Plymouth. She leads the firm’s prosecution team. Cherie has 20 years’ exposure to Crown prosecution and was appointed the Crown Solicitor for New Plymouth in 2010. She has conducted some of the most serious and high-profile prosecutions in Taranaki and she appears regularly in in the District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal on criminal matters.
Having practiced in Christchurch, Wellington and New Plymouth, Cherie has also appeared before many other forums making her an experienced advocate, including the:
- Environment Court;
- Employment Court;
- Employment Review Authority;
- Psychologists’ Disciplinary Board;
- ACC Review Hearings;
- Coroners’ Court;
- Parole Board; and
- Cave Creek Commission of Inquiry.
Like Partner Justin Marinovich, she also advises a variety of Government departments and ministries on regulatory issues, experience that proves invaluable when assisting the firm’s corporate clients.
Outside of the firm, Cherie is a faculty member of the New Zealand Law Society Litigation Skills Programme and previously a Council Member of the Taranaki Branch of the New Zealand Law Society. She is also a pro bono prosecutor for the North Taranaki SPCA.
